Menu week 10 – 16 July 2017

Morning everyone,

How is everyone doing? Our daughter turned 20 so we made the day special for her, after work at least πŸ˜‰ We took her out of dinner to one of our regular restaurant and her gifts included a big, beautiful flower arrangement, some funky balloons and jewelry. I baked her a vanilla cake with grenadilla (passion fruit) flavoured icing (no photo as I messed up the frosting).

The rest of the week was pretty much a normal week with some everyday meals. I did try one recipe, it’s for Hasselback zucchini. You basically just cut slits into the zucchini but not all the way through. Then drizzle a bit of olive oil over and cover in tin foil. Then bake it in the oven (180 degrees Celsius) or on the grill till almost tender. Then stuff the slits with pieces of cooked bacon and pieces of cheese, close up the foil and place back in the oven or on the grill till the cheese has melted (about 10 minutes). It was nice except that the cheese stuck to the foil, we made them on the grill so the cooking time varied, and I just kept on checking them until I was happy with it.

  • Dinner (18h00) – Starter was Peri-Peri Chicken Livers, mains was steak with spinach & pumpkin and dessert was birthday cake at home.

Tuesday:

  • Breakfast (08h25) – Scrambled eggs, bacon, fried zucchini & tomato.
  • Lunch – Skipped.
  • Dinner (17h20) – Oven roasted veg & chicken (broccoli, cauliflower, pumpkin, brusselsprouts & lemon)

Wednesday:

  • Breakfast (08h10) – Zucchini & tomato frittata with bacon.
  • Lunch – Skipped.
  • Dinner (17h20) – Stuffed cabbage and roasted pumpkin.

Thursday:

  • Breakfast (10h00) – Quiche with leftover veg and bacon bits.
  • Lunch – Skipped.
  • Dinner (17h30) – Roast chicken, pumpkin, mashed green beans and cabbage.

Friday:

  • Breakfast (08h50) – Scrambled eggs, bacon, fried zucchini & mushrooms & brinjals.
  • Lunch – Skipped.
  • Dinner (18h25) – Burger on coleslaw, fried onion & tomato topped with an egg.

Saturday:

  • Breakfast (10h00) – Breakfast scramble (eggs, mushrooms, zucchini, brinjals, tomato) and bacon.
  • Lunch – Skipped.
  • Dinner (16h30) – Braai/BBQ (Pork chop, Hasselback zucchini, cauliflower/broccoli bake).

Sunday:

  • Breakfast (11h00) – 2 Sweet potato pancakes topped with mince.
  • Lunch – Skipped.
  • Dinner (17h50) – Cabbage rice and chicken curry with carrots, green beans & turnips.Week 10-16 July 2017
